Today, Chief Robert Hassell held a department wide meeting whereas he announced that he has accepted the Chief of Police position for the Town of Hope Mills. Chief Hassell states, "After four years of service as Fairmont's Director of Public Safety, I have witnessed the growth of his staff into professional public servants, whom I am so very proud. I have shared many great memories with my staff and the many citizens of Fairmont and for that; they all will be missed."

He further states, "My time here has been very rewarding and I appreciate the opportunities Mayor Charles Kemp, Town Manager-Mr. Blake Proctor, and the City Council has given me. In addition, I will miss the town's administrative staff, other town employees, and the citizens of Fairmont who entrusted me with the great honor of being their Chief. I just hope I have lived up to your expectations and served with honor and integrity for others to follow and continue. Please know that Fairmont will always have a special place in my family and heart."

Chief Robert Hassell announced Major Danny Parker has been selected as Interim Director of Public Safety.

Fairmont Department of Public Safety Blog

PostDateIcon Monday, 10 August 2009 20:20 | PDF Print E-mail
I am pleased to announce and welcome you to the Fairmont Department of Public Safety’s blog. We are currently running tests to ensure that the blog is working properly so please bare with us if there is down time. I hope the blog will be another useful tool to share and receive information and ideas that go beyond the stories in the news.

Blogging for our department is new and blogging can be exciting and at times controversial. I understand that police work and our fire duties affects everyone in the community, yet we often do not have the opportunity to talk about what we are doing and why, or hear from those we serve, so I hope this will be a way for us to exchange ideas on topics of concern. I will post article and thoughts from time to time and hope to engage many of you in a positive way.

It is my intention that the FDPS Blog will not avoid challenging and controversial subjects because without them, a blog is not a useful communication tool and its purpose is defeated. Therefore, I welcome your comments on the stories you see posted here and on topics you do not see.
Through this space, you can let us, and the rest of the community, know what is important to you.

Robert A. Hassell
Director of Public Safety
