Under the leadership of Sgt. Lauren Floyd, the Fairmont Public Safety Explorer Program is set up as an introduction to various phases of the law enforcement, fire, EMS, and rescue professions. It is sponsored by the Fairmont Department of Public Safety and South Robeson Rescue Unit and chartered annually through the Exploring/Learning for Life Division of the Boy Scouts of America. The program functions locally under the auspices of the local Boy Scout Council. A committee of Fairmont DPS and South Robeson Rescue personnel directs the Fairmont Public Explorer Program.
